The Plus-Size Power Wardrobe
By Mariotte · 5 min read

The plus-size client is too often handed clothes designed to minimise. A power wardrobe does the opposite — it builds presence, it owns space, and it absolutely refuses to disappear.
Tailoring first. A jacket that fits the shoulder, sits flat across the back, and finishes at the right point on the hip will outwork anything else you own. Skip off-the-peg if budget allows; tailor what you have if it does not.
Heavyweight fabric beats clingy fabric every single time. Wool, structured cotton, ponte, neoprene, leather. They hold their shape and let your shape hold itself.
Statement footwear anchors a plus-size silhouette beautifully. A sculpted boot, a wide-fit pump with real presence, a clean trainer with weight. The proportion at the ground supports the proportion at the top.
And finally, lean into colour. Deep jewel tones, sharp ivories, confident reds. The cliché that plus-size clients should stay in black is one of fashion's oldest lies, and it is well past time to retire it.
